Woman in Mind

One of Ayckbourn’s blacker comedies, dealing with the gradual mental collapse of a woman, Susan – a collapse which appears to be precipitated by being knocked unconscious by a garden rake. Starved of affectionate companionship and understanding love by an appallingly boring husband and a priggish son who’s ashamed of her, Susan conjures up an ideal family who come to her in her idyllic (also imagined) garden. But gradually she begins to lose control over these idealised people and their visitations, until finally she breaks down completely in a nightmarish and climatic fantasy involving her real and imaginary families.

Someone Who'll Watch Over Me

Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me A story of determination and imagination – three men are taken hostage and held by unseen captors in the Middle East. With no one else to turn to, the need to stay alive and sane overcomes their initial division and prejudices. In their battle to keep their spirits from faltering, their chief weapon becomes their imaginations, balancing the grim reality of the situation with moments of beauty, fantasy and poignancy.

The Three Musketeers

This adaptation is based on the timeless swashbuckler by Alexandre Dumas, a tale of heroism, treachery, close escapes and above all, honour. The story, set in 1625, begins with D'Artagnan, a young Frenchman from Gascony, who sets off for Paris in search of adventure. Along with D'Artagnan goes Sabine, his sister, the quintessential tomboy. Soon after reaching Paris, D'Artagnan encounters the greatest heroes of the day, Athos, Porthos and Aramis, the famous musketeers. D'Artagnan joins forces with his heroes to defend the honour of the Queen of France.

Death and the Maiden
